Cassatt: Mother and Chick

Part of the Artist & Animals series these sparrows are painted in the impressionists style of Mary Cassatt.  Because of Victorian rules, female artists could not take figure drawing classes due to the presence of nudes.  Women artists of the time were limited in the subjects that they could paint so they often focused on the women and children that were a part of their everyday lives.
