Rough Around the Edges

Original, hand-painted in gouache on acid-free watercolor paper.

This column cactus was in full bloom when it became the inspiration for this painting.  What you can’t see in the painting is the thousands stringy and spiky thorns.  To give the same feel, the wildly patterned background and blue thorns of the cactus create a lively and dynamic feel to this work.  Part of the “Succulents & Cacti” series.
